Freya stared at the flat, dark but glassy lake, the sky above her blue and brilliant, it was slightly darker then the brilliant sky blue during the Summer term though. The sun was lowering in the sky, the breeze getting a little colder and the Horse Chestnut trees skirting the outskirts of the forbidden forest. She sighed in a giving up kind of way, making the owl on her shoulder jump.
'What is the matter Allora?' The owl questioned.
'It's Freya.' Freya snapped at the owl, in her rare angry mood.
'Okay, okay.' The owl murmured back, 'What is wrong Freya?'
'Well, Bracken, I can't help but feel as though all this work, to fight against Riku Harasori, fight against dark magic, the fight to stay alive, is all going to pot. Nothing. Nada. End of. Kaput...' The owl stopped her there with a sharp grip of his claws. 'Things are changing. Damion's in arguments with the council to let him stay at BCA. They won't because of secrets that even mine or his positions can change, or even find out what is going on.' Freya replies, still staring out to the lake, her hands in her black flowing robes pockets, her cloak picking up in the breeze, it was the lighter of her cloaks, so it was easy to walk around.
'What is happening to this world?' Bracken asks, rhetorically. 'You should be allowed to see the preparations, you are a Macaulay.' Bracken said thoughtfully.
'Already tried that. They say I haven't got the qualifications. But somehow, I can't help but think that no-one needs me anymore.' Freya said, quietly, glancing around the area. Her defense was as flat as a pancake because of how she was feeling, and to be perfectly honest, Freya did not care.
'You're thinking of going?' Bracken asked, shocked by that supposed guess. Freya dropped her head. 'But you can't do that, Blue Crystal is your home. Your life. Your soul. You can't just walk out of here without even consulting Cameron.'
'I could. Cameron has this place wrapped up like a Christmas present. I need to find out my purpose in life. Teaching and keeping these kids safe was my first priority...' Freya says, being cut off by the owl,
'And it is your purpose in life Freya. Your Father may have wanted you to become and Aurora but your place was always here. Your first priority will stay as it is.' Bracken says defiantly. Freya was slowly getting annoyed with Bracken.
'No.' She shouts, the owl jumped again and flew to a nearby rock and looked at her. Her eyes had glazed over to an electric blue. 'I've flat-lined this place since Riku came for me. It's my fault this school is the way it is from four years back. I have to leave.' She snapped, the water near her started to ripple.
'No you don't Freya. It isn't your fault.' The owl replied still defiantly. Freya calmed a little, but the anger burst again.
'Look at me. Look at my god-damned eyes. This is why I can't stay here. I will hurt people. I could destroy this Academy if I get even a little bit angry. So what's the point in staying if I can't control my fears and whatever else I need to keep under control if all I will do is end up killing people? I'll be lucky if they run away after seeing what I can do and survive to tell the tale.' Freya snapped, the ripples got a little bigger and more frequent. And finally. The owl snapped.
'Fine, you can go Freya. But you will be leaving your home, heart and life here. But you can be practically sure that there will be a place going spare if you want to come back.' The owl snapped sharply. Freya eyes dropped to a brown color again. The owl had never had a go at her like that before.
'Damion reckons he'll be banished from Scotland for good.' Freya says quietly, she sat next to the owl and stared out to the calm waters again. The owl nodded.
'So thats why you reckon you have to leave. For Damion.' The owl replied, as though he knew why Freya wanted to leave.
'No.' Freya replied, a tear falling down her face. 'Damion and I planned to be together for the rest of our lives. Get married and have a couple of kids. But he hasn't spent nearly enough time with me, nor has he proposed, nor have I seen him for the last 6 months.' Freya says, wiping the tears from her eyes, only to be replaced by fresh ones.
'So why leave...' Bracken asked quietly, as though he could hear someone
'Because...'
